Big Changes Ahead for Davis College in Johnson City
Leaders of Davis College say they are awaiting approval of regulators to make changes in the school that was founded in Johnson City more than a century ago.
The Bible college is located on the 22-acre campus called Bible School Park between Riverside Drive and the Susquehanna River.
Davis College announced in a statement Friday afternoon that it has "aligned with another educational institution with a similar mission and values for a shared services agreement."
According to a statement released by Davis College, the proposed deal must be approved by the New York State Department of Education and the Middle States Commission of Education.
Davis College did not reveal the name of the other institution.
The statement indicated Davis College has been "investigating other alliances and partnerships" to adapt to the changes that are occurring in higher education in the United States.
Addressing concerns expressed by students and area residents, the statement said "Davis College will not be closing."
The statement said the school is "moving into a new chapter in its century-old legacy of training men and women for Christian and non-profit service, both at home and abroad."
The announcement provided no information regarding when the regulatory approvals are anticipated or the specific changes that might occur with local school operations.
