Candor State Of Emergency Called Following Highway Dpt. Fire

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]The fire that wiped out much of the Town of Candor's highway equipment, including snow plows in a fire at the Highway Department Garage, is prompting officials to put residents on alert.

The Town has issued a state of emergency due to the impact of the loss on public safety, involving the clearing, salting and sanding of roads.

The declaration will allow the town to make emergency purchases or payments and will be in effect for a month unless officials cancel it.

Some municipalities in the region have offered to help with loans of equipment and personnel.

Meanwhile fire investigators say the blaze was the result of an electrical problem.
