A Broome County woman is putting the finishing touches on a coffee shop that's about to start operating in Endwell.

Annie Walck said she hope The Bright Side Café at 519 Hooper Road can have a soft opening later this week..

The business will be located in a small complex in a space that had been occupied by a dry cleaning operation. Walck said was interested in the site as soon as she noticed the location was available. She said she thought "I have to have that spot." She contacted the property owner and leased the place after a short time.

Walck said the café initially will offer a limited menu of items. She said baked goods like cookies, muffins and cupcakes will be available, along with fresh fruit.

Walck said she also plans to offer some plant-based and gluten-free options that aren't readily available at nearby businesses.

Several small tables will be available for seating in what Walck said with be a family-friendly café. She said there also will be a kids table featuring puzzles and coloring books for children.

The business initially is expected to operate Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., although Walck said she'll adjust the hours based on customer demand. She said the place may be ready to open this Thursday.
