The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team is off to its best start since the 2005-06 season and will take a 9-4 record into conference action Saturday at 1 PM  (air at 12:45 on CBS Sports Radio 1360 AM) against the Maine Black Bears.  The game will be played in Bangor at the Cross Insurance Center.

Maine enters weekend play with an overall record of 8-6 and won its conference opener Wednesday night 64-56 over Stony Brook. The Black Bears won two out of three meetings with Binghamton last season.  Each team won at home and Maine knocked the Bearcats out of the conference post-season tournament  with a 57-40 quarterfinal series decision.

The Bearcats have put together some impressive team and individual statistics over the first 13 games.  Led by Alyssa James with 4.6 blocks per game the Bearcats are averaging 7.8 blocks per contest which the best in the nation. Reigning America East Player of the Week Imani Watkins tops America East scorers with an average of 20.9 points per game. She ranks 21st in the nation in points per game scoring.

For the Black Bears Blanca Millan is the top gun averaging 17.3 points per game which is fourth in the conference.  Maine leads the series overall with a 20-14 slate.
