Around basketball circles many talk about the different seasons during the overall "season"  You have the non-conference schedule designed to prepare for the conference schedule.  In the conference schedule the goal is to make the postseason in your conference and then advance to further tournament play be it the NCAA, WNIT or others.

For the Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team tonight marks the "post-postseason"  After falling to the Hartford Hawks in the quarterfinal round of the America East Tournament the Bearcats had to wait for over a week to find out if they would get a bid to the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI).  Now, it's back to business with the program's first tournament game at the Division I level outside of  America East.

The Youngstown State Penguins come into the WBI with a record of 16-15.  They are members of the Horizon League and were eliminated in their conference's semifinal round.  It is the first ever meeting between the two schools on the basketball court.  The schools potentially could have met many times.  When Binghamton made the move to Division I the Bearcats were searching for a conference to join and the Horizon League was one of those considered.

Tonight's game begins at 7:00 PM.  Jonny Wincott calls the action on News Radio 1290 WNBF.  Pregame coverage including a Bearcat Preview from Coach Linda Cimino begins at 6:45 PM.
