The Binghamton Bearcats softball team beat the rain and the UMass Lowell (UML) River Hawks in the nightcap of a doubleheader today (Saturday) at the Bearcats Sports Complex.  With rain approaching Binghamton closed out the second game 4-2 to earn a split for the day.

In the first game the Bearcats and River Hawks went nine innings before UML posted a 7-6 win. In the nightcap Binghamton starter Rayn Gibson went the distance on the mound to get the win. With the split Binghamton's America East record is 5-1 while the River Hawks are 6-3.  Overall BU is 13-18 while UML is 14-17.

The Bearcats got plenty of home run power on the day and were paced by Jessica Rutherford who blasted a pair of round trippers.  Carrie Maniccia, Kate Richard and Crysti Eichner all hit home runs as well.

According to information on the Binghamton University website (bubearcats.com) the final game of the weekend set for tomorrow at the Bearcats Sports Complex has been moved up from noon to 10 AM.
