BU Men Win !

The Binghamton Bearcats men's  basketball team accomplished something today (Sunday) that they had not done since January 10, 2011...defeat the Stony Brook Seawolves.  The Seawolves had defeated the Bearcats 14 consecutive times prior to today.  The Bearcats broke the streak with a 71-67 victory at the Events Center.

It was the first conference victory for the Bearcats and puts them at 1-5.  For Stony Brook it was the first America East loss and puts their record at 5-1.

Binghamton went up 26-24 when Yosef Yacob drove the lane to score as time ran out.  In the second half Binghamton soared to a 13 point lead only to have it stripped away by the Seawolves.

With Stony Brook up 67-65 and just 24 seconds remaining Bobby Ahearn made the first of two free throw opportunities but missed the second.  Ahearn captured the rebound off his miss and fed the ball to Timmy Rose who buried a three-point shot to make it 69-67 Bearcats.

With three seconds to go Lucas Woodhouse missed a three-point attempt from the left corner for Stony Brook.  Bobby Ahearn  snared the ball and was fouled.  He made both free throws to clinch the Bearcat win by a final of 71-67.

Ahearn had a game high 21 points while Willie Rodriguez scored 15 points and Yosef Yacob finished with 14 points.  Woodhouse led the Seawolves with 15 points including four three-point baskets.
