BU Men in Baltimore to Face Defending America East Champions
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team swings back into action tonight (Wednesday) in suburban Baltimore when they meet the UMBC Retrievers at 7:00 P.M. (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Coming into tonight's action the Bearcats are 5-12 and 1-1 in America East. The defending America East Champion
Retrievers are 1-2 in the conference and 9-9 overall.
Binghamton has not played since last Wednesday when the Bearcats fell on Long Island against the Stony Brook Seawolves 59-46. In the last outing for the Retrievers they dropped a 74-63 decision at UMass Lowell. In the series over the years UMBC holds a 17-16 advantage. The Retrievers have won five straight outings and hold an 11-4 edge in games played at Baltimore.
This is the first meeting between the two teams at UMBC's Events Center. The new multi-million dollar complex opened the week after the Bearcats played at UMBC last season.
Freshman Sam Sessoms continues to lead all Binghamton scorers averaging 17.4 points per game. Joe Sherburne is the big gun for the Retrievers scoring at a 14.6 points per game average. Following tonight's game the Bearcats continue their three-game road trip with a visit to Vermont on Saturday night.
