The Binghamton University Bearcats men's basketball team hosts the Youngstown State Penguins Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Events Center.  It is the first meeting between the two men's programs.  The BU women defeated the Penguins in the WBI opening round last season 70-59 in the only other basketball meeting to date.

The Penguins are members of the Horizon League and bring a 3-8 record into Saturday's game.  The Horizon League was one of the potential leagues/conferences considered by BU when moving to Division I competition.

Youngstown State has faced some tough competition with losses at Pitt and West Virginia.  Following their game with the Bearcats the Penguins travel to Columbus, Ohio to face the Buckeyes of Ohio State on December 18.

Binghamton is back in action after having the week off for semester-ending exams.  Last time out the Bearcats fell to Loyola,Md at the Events Center a week ago.  The Bearcats are 3-7.  Freshman Sam Sessoms leads Binghamton scorers averaging 18.5 points per game.  Sessoms is the current America East Rookie of the Week, an honor he has won three times.

Garrett Covington leads the Penguins in socring averaging 13.0 points per game.  Also averaging double figures is Kendale Hampton with a 10.4 points per game average.

Airtime for Saturday's game is 1:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.  Following Saturday's game the Bearcats travel to Notre Dame to meet the Fighting Irish on Tuesday night.
