BU Men Face Tough Test on Long Island
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team faces a tough foe tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00 PM at Island Federal Arena when they take on the Stony Brook Seawolves (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). The Seawolves have gotten off to a fast start and are 4-1 in America East and 13-7 overall. In their last outing the Seawolves stopped UAlbany 70-62 while the Bearcats fell at Maine 86-63.
Binghamton is 7-11 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Bearcats hope to rekindle the fire they had last March when they upset the Seawolves 78-72 in the quarterfinal round of the America East playoffs. In the two regular season games last year Stony Brook won both. Overall in the series dating back to 1963 and Division III days Stony Brook has the edge 44-28.
The Seawolves are paced by Elijah Olaniyi who is second in the conference in scoring and averages 19.3 points per game. Binghamton's top gun is Sam Sessoms who is averaging 17.8 points per game.
Following tonight's road contest the Bearcats return home to host New Hampshire on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Binghamton is back on the road next Wednesday to play at Hartford.
