The Binghamton Bearcats baseball team is done waiting for spring weather to reach the Southern Tier.  BU heads south to begin the 2018 season with a three-game series at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana beginning on Friday evening.  It will be the first of 22 straight road games for the Bearcats.

Following three games at northwestern State BU will travel to Liberty in Virginia for another three games next weekend.  Additional non - conference road opponents include Richmond, VCU, St. John's and Penn State.  In all the Bearcats have 22 away games scheduled before their first home game on Tuesday, April 3rd against Bucknell.

Veteran Tim Sinicki returns for his 26th season as the head coach of Binghamton baseball.  The Bearcats are the defending regular season champions in America East.  The team is looking for its fifth NCAA postseason appearance.

Binghamton returns a solid lineup including four area standouts.  C.J. Krowiak and  Joey Orlando are Union-Endicott alumni while Nick and T.J. Wegmann are Vestal grads.

Krowiak can fly and is an outstanding centerfielder.  He hit .326 at the top of the Bearcat lineup last season.  Orlando turned in a solid performance out of the bullpen last season and compiled a 3-0 record in 14 appearances.

Nick Wegmann was a regular in the starting rotation last season and went 4-5 with a 3.27 ERA.  His younger brother T.J. saw duty as a catcher and played in nine games, starting six of them.
