Broome County to Acquire “Graffiti Truck” in War on Vandalism
There may soon be a new tool for Broome County communities in the seemingly never-ending battle to keep graffiti from spreading out of control.
County executive Jason Garnar said his budget proposal call for the purchase of a "graffiti truck" to help in the effort to clean up vandalized buildings.
Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now, Garnar said he plans to develop a program that will "focus on cleaning up our community."
The county executive said the specialized truck will be equipped with pressurized hoses "that will easily take graffiti off."
Garnar said the county will lend the vehicle to local municipalities for graffiti-removal projects.
The county executive also said he plans to start a summer youth employment program to put young people to work cleaning up area communities.
The graffiti truck and employment initiative are included in Garnar's 2022 proposed county budget.
