The Maine Black Bears used relentless full court pressure to jump out to a 13-2 lead versus  Binghamton in the early going of the January 30 game at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Then the Bearcats adjusted and roared back to take a 36-32 lead at the half.  But Maine came back to pull away in the closing minutes of the game to post a 74-63 win.

Maine was keyed by 15 second half points from Issac Vann and outscored Binghamton 42-27 in the final 20 minutes.  Maine's Kevin Little went off for 15 first half points to pace the Black Bears in the early going.

The Bearcats got outstanding performances from two freshmen.  Thomas Bruce scored 16 points and made six of seven shot attempts.  Timmy Rose played his most minutes of the season (28)  and responded with 14 points.  It was career highs for both freshmen.

Withe the loss the Bearcats see their two-game winning streak snapped and fall to 2-6 in America East play.  Maine moves to 4-4 in conference action and takes a 16-15 edge all-time in the series with Binghamton.  The Bearcats next travel to Long Island to face the Stony Brook Seawolves on Wednesday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
