Authorities say a Binghamton man was stabbed to death by his girlfriend during an argument.

Investigators say 27-year-old Liz Ayala has been charged with second-degree murder.

According to Binghamton police, officers were sent to 97 Broad Avenue after a 911 call was received at 8:34 a.m. Tuesday.

Detectives say 26-year-old Gerrard Davis had been stabbed in a domestic dispute. He was rushed to a hospital where he died a short time later.

Ayala was arraigned in Binghamton city court and sent to Broome County Jail.

Police say Davis and Ayala had "an extensive history involving domestic incidents."

Investigators say two young children were in the home at the time of the deadly stabbing. Police contacted Child Protective Services for assistance.
