Binghamton University President Doctor Harvey Stenger was among dignitaries at the opening of the new Smart Energy Building.
The $70 million, 114-thousand square foot building at the BU Innovative Technologies Complex on Murray Hill Road in Vestal is to provide research facilities and development initiatives for chemistry and physics as well as provide classroom, laboratory and office space.
The University says during the design and construction of the two-story building with energy initiatives like a green roof, an estimated $90.7 million in economic benefits came to the Broome/Tioga region, including support for over 900 local jobs.
