The 24-hour marathon requires the 10 to 12 selected artists to complete a finished figure drawing in the time allowed from a live model who will pose for the entirety of the marathon to win one of two cash prizes.  The live model gets to take short breaks but the artists will be at work for the whole marathon.  Visitors can stop by during the 24-hour period at the B.U. Art Museum.

The competition is open to all students, community artists and alumni aged 18 and over.  Artists will draw with charcoal on large sheets of prepared paper provided by the organizers.

Artists wanting to compete need to submit one pdf file with up to ten samples of their best figure drawings along with name, address, phone number and email.  Organizers are also interested in personal stories or challenges the artists have to share.

Applications at drawing@binghamton.edu are accepted until February 10.  There is no application fee.

There is a $1,000 jury prize and a $500 people’s prize and a basket of supplies for one creative artist.
