Calling All Crafters for First Annual Southern Tier Independence Center Craft Fair

The Southern Tier Independence Center is looking for some crafty people to help with a new fund-raising effort.  

STIC is holding its first annual holiday craft fair benefitting people with disabilities on November 5.

Right now, STIC is looking to sign up artisans wishing to sell their wares at the event. Crafters are currently being sought through October 28, a deadline that has been extended by two weeks.   

Space is $50 for one booth, $80 for two booths.

According to a flyer provided by STIC, booths are available for crafts, art, jewelry, handmade gifts, baked goods, holiday items and more. 

In addition to the opportunity for holiday shopping, there will be children’s activities, basket raffles and a 50-50 raffle. 

The STIC Holiday Craft Fair will run from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. at 135 East Frederick Street.

 The Southern Tier Independance Center in Binghamton provides support and programs for people in the community with disabilities and their families.  STIC was a major advocate for the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and, following its passage, has worked to help advise public entities and private groups and businesses on ADA compliance.  A big portion of that work has been helping landlords and businesses understand accessibility issues.

STIC also helps physically, and developmentally disabled residents apply for insurance, find housing and employment, find personal care/assistance services and even arrange for sign-language interpreters.

The new STIC craft show and fair on November 5 should not only benefit the programs of the Independance Center through raising funds but will be a help to local artisans.  Many crafters who regularly set up shop and regional fairs were shut down during the start of the pandemic while using the shut down time to continue to create.  With the resumption of many craft fairs, several artists have said they have a lot of new items to display and sell.
