Binghamton University athletes participate in numerous community events.  Yesterday the men's and women's basketball teams held their annual Hoopfest at the Events Center. With the season fast approaching for both teams players and coaches took time out from the grind of daily practices to share some of their skills and knowledge with area youth.

The Bearcats had over 150 kids from all over the area in attendance. The event was open for kids from sixth grade and under and was directed by head coaches Tommy Dempsey and Linda Cimino.

Both men's and women's players were on hand to demonstrate their skills and instruct the young players in various drills and techniques.  Hoopfest has been held every year since 2006 on campus at Binghamton University.

The BU men open their season this Saturday by hosting Mansfield State at the Events Center at 2:00 PM with airtime at 1:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.  Next Friday, November 7th the women host Mansfield State at 5:30 with the men playing host to Oswego at 8 PM.
