Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Stenger said about 90 students are expected to be selected for the fall 2017 launch of the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Their first classes covering basic courses will be on the Vestal campus.

The pharmacy students are expected to move into the new building on Corliss Avenue in Johnson City in the spring of 2018.

Stenger said it's "exciting" to have a "great set of applicants" as Binghamton University prepares to launch its pharmacy school.

Construction work has been moving forward in Johnson City as most of the steel needed for the new structure has been put into place.

Additional changes are being made in the area around the project site, including the relocation of several utility poles.

Binghamton University also plans to move the Decker School of Nursing from the main campus to Johnson City. The nursing school is to be relocated to a former Endicott Johnson building on Corliss Avenue, just east of the new pharmacy school complex.
