The Binghaton Bearcats men's basketball team steps onto the big stage on Sunday night when they travel to the Breslin Center in East Lansing to meet the Michigan State Spartans at 7:00 PM (6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Heading into the week the Spartans were rated the number one team in the nation.  They fell in their opener 69-62 to second-ranked Kentucky 69-62 on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats are also 0-1 as they dropped their opener 84-64 in Ithaca on Tuesday night. Bighamton and Michigan State have met once before.  In December, 2015 the Spartans rolled to a 76-33 decision.  Michigan State has been one of the premier basketball programs in the country over many years.  They ave won two straight Big Ten championships and have made 22 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Spartans are led by Preseason AP All-American pick and reigning Big Ten Player of the Year Cassius Winston who scored 21 points on opening night and averaged 18.8 points per game last season.  Binghamton's top gun is sophomore Sam Sessoms, the reigning America East Rookie of the Year averaged just under 18 points per game last season.  He was held to six points against Cornell on Tuesday night.
