
Binghamton Man Shot in Back at His West Side Residence
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting of a man on Binghamton's West Side.
Authorities said city police were sent to 34 North Street around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot to his back.
The man was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition was not released but investigators said his injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives have not released the name of the man who was shot.
Police also offered no description of a possible suspect or any details surrounding the shooting.
A police department community response team vehicle and a K-9 unit were observed on North Street near the shooting scene Wednesday afternoon. It appeared police were focusing their attention on a nearby apartment house.
According to a police news release, the property at 34 North Street "has been subject to recent lockdown warnings" by the city.
