Lawrence Kassan, school district special events coordinator, says the dinner began at the high school after the Volunteers of America closed its doors 19 years ago.

Kassan was joined by high school senior Julia Guy on Monday's Binghamton Now program on WNBF News Radio 1290 to discuss the work that goes into organizing the dinner.

Guy said she and many other students look forward to preparing for the event and serving a special meal to thousands of Binghamton area residents.

The dinner is to be held on Thursday, November 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school's two cafeterias.

A shuttle bus service will be offered by First Student, the company that provides bus transportation for Binghamton students.

The dinner is supported by community donations and through fundraising efforts by students who are members of the Binghamton High School National Honor Society.

Monetary donations for the dinner may be sent to the school. Checks may be made payable to "BHS Thanksgiving Dinner." The mailing address for donations is: BHS-Thanksgiving Dinner, 31 Main Street, Binghamton, NY 13905. Attention: Jean Klein, BHS Honor Society.
