Binghamton Freshman Marlon Beck Earns America East Honors
Binghamton Bearcat freshman guard Marlon Beck earned his third America East Rookie of the Week Award for his performance last week. Binghamton has dominated the AE Rookie of the Week awards this season with four different Bearcats earning the honors for a total of six times in 14 weeks.
Beck is averaging 9.2 points per game for BU. He is second in the America East in assists/turnover ratio at 1.5 and seventh in the conference in assists averaging 3.1 per game. He keyed a Binghamton overtime win in New Hampshire last Wednesday when he put in three consecutive free throws with 4.5 seconds to go in regulation to tie the contest and send it into overtime. He scored 15 of his 17 points in the game in the second half.
Beck will help lead the Bearcats into action tomorrow night at the Events Center when Binghamton hosts the Albany Great Danes at 7 PM (airtime at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Binghamton then travels to Maryland to play UMBC Saturday evening in a 7 o'clock start.
