The cost of gasoline continues to drop around the Twin Tiers and across the country. But drivers may notice a dramatic range in pump prices by driving just a few miles.

According to GasBuddy.com, an Endwell convenience store was selling regular gas at a cash price of $2.429 a gallon. At the same time, a similar shop on Binghamton's South Side had a posted cash price of $2.699 a gallon.

Gas prices in the Binghamton area and around the United States now are more than a dollar a gallon lower than they were a year ago.

While the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report indicates the average price in the Binghamton market has dropped to about $2.59 a gallon, at least one station in Kansas was selling gas for $1.69 a gallon.

New York state vehicle owners these days have less of an incentive to fill up in Pennsylvania. That state's gas prices jumped in recent days as the second of three phases of a tax increase took effect.

Pennsylvania's gas tax rose by nearly ten cents a gallon as the state raises more money for highway and bridge projects.
