Gas Prices Dip Below $3 a Gallon at Broome and Tioga Stores
Motorists are getting a break on the cost of gasoline with posted prices at stations in the Binghamton area now 60 cents a gallon lower than one year ago.
A couple spots in Broome and Tioga counties are selling regular gas at a cash price of under $3.
As frequently is the case, the lowest posted price in the region appeared to be at SNK Fuels at Upper Front Street and Smith Hill Road in the town of Dickinson.
The convenience store dropped its price to $2.959 per gallon last Thursday. The nearby Bryne Dairy shop also posted a matching price for customers who used it membership debit card.
Other nearby gas outlets on Front Street were displaying prices a bit above the $3 mark.
A manager at the SNK Fuels store said people seemed "very happy" with their gasoline prices in recent weeks.
In Tioga County, Scott Smith and Sons on Delphine Street had a posted price of $2.989 on Monday.
According to an online price tracker operated by AAA, average gas prices in the Binghamton market are 60 cents a gallon lower than one year ago.
The organization's website reported the average price for regular gasoline on Monday was $3.201 a gallon compared to $3.801 a gallon a year ago.
