Recently named Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball coach Bethann Shapiro Ord was introduced to staff, fans and media members this (Friday) afternoon at the Events Center on campus at Binghamton University.  Ord was named the new women's basketball coach after Linda Cimino resigned to accept a similar position at St. Francis College of Brooklyn.

Ord joins Binghamton after seven seasons as the head coach at Weber State in Ogden, Utah. Originally from Rochester the new Bearcat coach had a number of family members who were on hand in the Tau Room at the Events Center for the introductions.

Ord said she was excited about the opportunity to take over the Bearcats' coaching duties.  She told those on hand that she wants to play an exciting, up-tempo game while still concentrating on defense.

Binghamton lost two of its all-time best players due to graduation in Imani Watkins and Alyssa James.  And outside scoring threat Jasmine Sina with one remaining year of eligibility departed to play at St. John's University. But the Bearcats return plenty of talent led by guard Kai Moon and forward Rebecca Carmody.
