In its biggest win of the season the Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team defeated perennial America East power Hartford last (Thursday) night 60-59 at the Events Center.  The win puts Binghamton into a fourth place tie with the Maine Black Bears in the America East standings.  The two will square off in Maine on Sunday at 1 PM ( 1245 on News Radio 1290 WNBF) in the final game of the regular season.

Carly Boland nailed a three-pointer from the left corner with what proved to be the winning bucket with 1:05 to play in the fourth period.  It put BU up 60-59 and the Bearcat defense held off the Black Bears in the closing seconds to seal the win.  It avenges a double overtime loss in West Hartford earlier this season.

Imani Watkins put on an offensive clinic in the second half scoring 21 points from all over the court.  She finished with a game-high 28 points and remains second in conference scoring averaging 19.4 points per game.

Binghamton will return to Maine for the America East Tournament next weekend.  The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be played in Portland, Maine.  The championship game will be played at the home of the higher remaining seed on Friday, March 10.
