Bearcats Split in Basketball Battles With Vermont
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team dropped a 69-63 decision to the Vermont Catamounts at the Events Center on Saturday afternoon. But the BU women defeated Vermont at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington by a score of 59-50.
For the women the victory gives them sole possession of fifth place in America East with a 7-7 record. The Catamounts fall to 7-8.
Kai Moon topped Binghamton's offense with 23 points and Rebecca Carmody scored 13 points with 10 rebounds. Binghamton High School graduate Olivia Ramil scored 14 points for the Bearcats.
It was Senior Day for the men as J.C.Show, Everson Davis, Timmy Rose, Caleb Stewart and Chancellor Barnard all were honored in ceremonies before the game. All five started the game for Binghamton.
The Bearcats gave the conference-leading Catamounts all they could handle. The game was tied at 58-58 with 5:39 to go in the game and the Bearcats were down by one with 3:09 left.
Binghamton was led by J.C.Show with a season -high 22 points. Sam Sessoms netted 11 points for BU. Vermont's Anthony Lamb paced all scorers with 28 points including 19 points in the second half. Ernie Duncan was right behind him with 22 points including five three-point buckets. Lamb also grabbed 12 rebounds for Vermont. With the win the Catamounts move to 12-2 in the conference while the Bearcats fall to 4-9.
