The Binghamton Bearcats softball team is looking to clinch the regular season America East championship this weekend with a visit to Long Island to face the Stony Brook Seawolves in a three-game series.  The teams meet in a scheduled doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday with Sunday open should rain cause any problems with the schedule.

The Bearcats are in the driver's seat currently in the conference with a record of 11-2.  The Maine Black Bears are 10-4 after Binghamton took three straight against them last weekend.  The Bearcats were on the way to getting closer to clinching the regular season crown on Tuesday afternoon in Albany.  Binghamton led 9-1 with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning over the Great Danes.  However, steady rain forced a premature end to the fifth inning with Binghamton needing two outs to mercy-rule Albany and post a road win.

Stony Brook is 7-7 in America East action. If the Bearcats clinch their second consecutive America East regular season championship they will host the America East Championship Tournament beginning next Wednesday at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
