Bearcats Host AE Softball Tournament

The America East Championship Softball Tournament gut underway this (Wednesday) morning at the Bearcats Sports Complex.  The tournament opener was a thriller that went 10 innings with Albany posting a 5-4 win over the UMBC Retrievers.  That puts the #4 seed Great Danes into tomorrow's  (Thursday's) 11 AM game against the #1 seed Binghamton Bearcats.

The Great Danes have been a tough opponent for the Bearcats.  The intrastate rival defeated Binghamton in April at the Bearcats Sport Complex twice by scores of 6-5 and 4-0.  A single game in Albany last week was rained out with Binghamton leading 9-1 in the fifth inning.

The two teams have met in the America East Tournament six times and the Great Danes hold a 5-1 advantage.  Binghamton finished the regular season with an 11-4 slate in America East.  Albany ended the conference schedule with an 8-7 record.
