Bearcats Handle Hawks at Events Center
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team rolled to an 89-70 win over the Hartwick Hawks at the Events Center on Saturday afternoon. The Division III Hawks fall to 4-4 (this counted as an exhibition game for Hartwick) while the Bearcats move to 3-5.
Binghamton led 46-33 at the half to set the tone for the win. The Bearcats shot 50 percent from the field in the game. Hartwick used a torrid three-point shooting eye to stay within striking range for much of the contest. The Hawks hit on 56 percent of their shots behind the arc making 15 of their 27 three-point attempts. Johnson City High School graduate Pat Garey led the Hawks outside attack going five-for-five from beyond the arc. Overall, Garey made seven of his nine shot attempts and scored a game-high 19 points. Susquehanna Valley alum Austin Haskell scored four points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Hawks.
Binghamton had five players score in double figures. Leading the way was Sam Sessoms with 17 points while Caleb Stewart scored a career-high 16 points for Binghamton. Also scoring in double figures were Chancellor Barnard with 13 points, Timmy Rose with 12 points and Everson Davis with 10 points. Barnard also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The next game for the Bearcats will be in Baltimore on Wednesday night when the Bearcats face Morgan State. Tipoff is set for 7:00 P.M. Air is 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
