The Binghamton Bearcats face their long-time rivals from Stony Brook tonight when they meet the Seawolves at 7:00 P.M.( air at 6:45 P.M) at the Island Federal Credit Union Arena.  Both teams are coming off of opening day America East victories.  Stony Brook defeated UMass Lowell 75-63 to open conference play while the Bearcats topped New Hampshire at the Events Center 69-58.

The Seawolves are led by one of the top players in America East.  Akwasi Yeboah is scoring at an 18.6 points per game clip and also leads his team in rebounding grabbing 6.6 boards per game.

Binghamton's freshman standout Sam Sessoms continues to top his team in scoring averaging 17.7 points per game.  Honors continue to come for Sessoms.  He is the current America East Rookie of the Week.  It's the fifth time he has won the award.  Sessoms has also been named the Miller Auto Team Binghamton University Student Athlete of the Week.

Binghamton and Stony Brook teams have battled since both were Division III teams.  Heading into tonight's game the Seawolves lead the overall series 42-27.  Since both moved to Division I Stony Brook has moved to a 22-17 advantage and has won 17 of the last 19 meetings.

This is the first of three consecutive away games against the premier teams in America East for BU.  The Bearcats travel to UMBC next Wednesday and then visit perennial power Vermont a week from Saturday. Binghamton's next home game is on Wednesday, January 23 vs. UMass Lowell at 7:00 P.M.
