New York State Police say they received a report of malnourished and injured horses being boarded on property owned by 40-year-old Jennifer Longwell on County Route 17 in the Town of Bainbridge.

Troopers say they had been contacted by an owner of some of the horses in May who removed their animals and took them to a veterinarian for treatment. That owner indicated a vet told them at least one animal should be put down.

Authorities inspecting the property observed several horses appeared malnourished and had sores on their bodies.

Longwell was arrested July 1 and charged with misdemeanor overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance.

She was ordered to appear in Town of Bainbridge Court later this month.
