Police say a person has died following what they described as a "horsing accident."

The incident happened Monday morning in Dutchess County.

According to New York State Police, troopers were sent to a family farm on Byrds Hill Road in the town of Dover around 10:45 a.m. after a woman fell off a horse.

Investigators say the horse reared for an unknown reason, falling on top of the rider.

23-year-old Samantha Calzone of Greenwich, Connecticut was pronounced dead at the scene.

Northern Dutchess paramedics and the Dutchess County medical examiner's office assisted police at the scene.
