YWCA Spirit in Spirit Ball and Programs Featured on So. Tier Close Up
Crystal Sackett, Sr. Project Director for the YWCA in Binghamton is featured on the October 13 edition of the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up as the third annual Spirit in Spirit Ball quickly approaches.
Sackett say the dance, which also features a magician, spirit paintings, basket raffles and more will be held October 20 at the Kilmer Mansion on Riverside Drive in Binghamton.
The event serves as a fundraiser for all the programs offered by the YWCA including housing, ENCOREPlus and the new Lift for Life service.
On this issue of housing, Sackett says there continue to be a large need for emergency and longer-term housing for women and their children in the region given ongoing financial challenges and issues that result from substance abuse in the region.
The YWCA also just completed its annual dog walk fundraiser over the summer that brought in about $7,000 for breast and cervical cancer screening programs.
Sackett says just getting started in the region is the the Lift for Life program that provides transportation for elderly, rural residents to doctor appointments. People wanting to learn more or sign up for that service can call (607) 772-0340, ext. 242.
