Meet the Binghamton Graduate Who Helped To Build Yankee Stadium
Construction on the new Yankee stadium began in August of 2006 and construction was completed on April 2, 2009. The stadium build came with a price tag of $2.3 billion dollars and the new Yankee stadium is the third-largest stadium in Major League Baseball by seating capacity.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the stadium took place on August 16, 2006, which also coincided with the 58th anniversary of Babe Ruth's death. Team owner George Steinbrenner, then Governor George Pataki, and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg donned Yankees hard hats to dig up dirt and mark the historic occasion.
The firm that built the new Yankee stadium was Turner Construction Company and one of the Senior Vice Presidents of the company just so happens to be a man who graduated from Binghamton. His name is Rory DeJohn.
Rory DeJohn graduated from Binghamton in 1972 and would go on to attend Broome Community College where he received an Associate's degree in Business. DeJohn then received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Construction Management from Utica College of Syracuse University. DeJohn graduated from Utica University in 1977 and today, he serves on the Construction Management Advisory Committee for Utica University.
DeJohn has had an impressive professional career that has spanned over four decades. Before beginning his career with Turner Construction Company in 1994, DeJohn spent 20 years with DeJohn/Sullivan, Inc., where he was a partner in the firm, and Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation.
DeJohn's primary responsibility with Turner Construction Company is to maintain and expand relationships with architects, developers, and multinational corporations. DeJohn's department of Turner Construction Company sees an incredible income of $1.5 billion dollars each year.
