The state is providing $21 million to renovate the century-old Endicott Johnson building in preparation for the relocation of the Decker School of Nursing from the Vestal campus.

The Corliss Avenue structure is located just east of the university's School of Pharmacy, which has been under construction for the last several months.

Governor Andrew Cuomo visited Johnson City Tuesday to discuss the next phase of the Binghamton University Health Science and Technology Innovation Park.

Money from the Upstate Revitalization Initiative will be used to fund the nursing school project.

The renovation job is expected to begin soon. It is scheduled to be finished in August 2020.

Binghamton University plans to enroll 320 students in its Doctor of Pharmacy program and 60 students in its PhD program.

University President Harvey Stenger recently said several dozen applications had been received for the pharmacy school.

The pharmacy program is to be launched next fall with initial instruction on the Vestal campus. Students are scheduled to start using the Johnson City facility in the spring of 2018.
