Authorities say a woman died as the result of a blaze at a residence on Welton Street in Colesville.

According to New York State Police, troopers were sent to the fire scene around 5:45 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters from Harpursville, Windsor, Ouquaga and West Colesville battled the blaze.

Investigators say the body of 60-year-old Wendy Sutton was found inside the house. She was the listed owner of the property.

Police say Sutton was the only person inside at the time of the fire, which was reported by a neighbor who spotted flames coming from the structure.

A state police news release indicated the fire was not believed to be suspicious but there was no word as to a possible cause.
