It looks like plans by the Calpine company to construct a big wind farm in the Town of Sanford may have hit a doldrum, at least temporarily.

The Town Board August 13 voted to put a “stay” on the plans for 23 turbines in the town.

Calpine’s proposal calls for a total of 27 turbines, including four in Windsor.  The moratorium approved in Sanford 4-0 with one abstention, is for at least 90-days.

The multi-million dollar project is drawing supporters and detractors that seem to be equally vocal in their positions.

The Bluestone wind farm development is under review by the New York State Public Service Commission with a final decision on its future expected before the end of the year.
