Willet Man Accused of Sexually Assault Over Several Years
A Cortland County man is facing several felony charges including Rape in connection with complaints that he subjected someone he knows to inappropriate sexual contact on several occasions.
52-year-old Eric Worsell of Willet is also charged with Endangering the Welfare of a child.
Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say they received a report of sex abuse allegations against Worsell that had reportedly happened between 2019 and 2022 at an undisclosed location in the Town of Willet on June 25th.
Investigator say it’s believed Worsell had subjected a person with whom he was acquainted to inappropriate sexual contact over the course of several years.
At that time, Deputies arrested Worsell on charges of misdemeanor Forcible Touching, Felony Rape and Felony Criminal Sexual Act. He was sent to the Cortland County Jail on $4,000 bail as the investigation continued.
On Friday, July 1, Worsell responded to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with additional counts of felony Rape, felony Criminal Sexual Act and misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a child.
He was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment on the additional charges.
Worsell is due to appear in Town of Willet Court to answer to all the charges later this week.
The news release from the Sheriff’s office does not give information concerning how the victim and Worsell knew each other or the age of the alleged victim on the dates of the reported inappropriate contact and if that may have been the reason for the additional count of child endangerment.
