The long-planned sale of the 13-acre Davis College campus in Johnson City to Broome County businessman Adam Weitsman has been finalized.

Weitsman said the transaction was finalized Wednesday. He intends to set up a basketball academy on the site. He also hopes to establish an "esports" academy on the campus, which is located south of Riverside Drive.

A 12-unit apartment building on Riverside Drive was included as part of the $3.7 million deal. Weitsman said that property will be sold.

Syracuse-based consultants are assisting Weitsman in developing his plans for the sports academies, which would be for boys and girls in grades 9 through 12.

Weitsman said he hopes the two academies can go into operation in 2022 with a total of 150 participants.

Weitsman said he is continuing to discuss his vision for the property with Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim. He said Boeheim has been supportive of his plans and has given him advice.

Two small flood-damaged houses on the property near the Susquehanna River are to be torn down next month.
