A news release says phone numbers and some passwords to Wegmans.com accounts could have been compromised. Shoppers Club numbers and email addresses, birth dates, addresses and phone numbers could be impacted.  The company says all impacted Wegmans.com account password characters were not actually contained in the databases. Social security numbers or any payment or banking information were not involved.

Wegmans says the issue was brought to their attention by a third-party security researcher in the middle of April and the company worked with a forensics firm to determine the scope of the problem.

The release says while passwords were protected through what is called “hashing”, customers can change their passwords as a cautionary measure.  Anyone with questions can call 1-855-535-1852.
