After a rocket launch earlier this week was scrubbed due to weather, a Southern Tier native is set to launch into outer space.

The SpaceX rocket launch manned by Apalachin native Doug Hurley is scheduled to launch at 3:22 p.m. ET, subject to weather conditions.

Watch NASA's live feed of the rocket launch below:

Hurley, from Apalachin, is a Marine Corp veteran who has also manned space shuttle flights in 2009 and 2011.

Saturday's SpaceX Falcon9 rocket launch will transport Hurley and fellow astronaut Robert Behnken to the International Space Station. They are expected to be on the space station for anywhere from six weeks to four months, helping crew with research and possibly make spacewalks to install new solar array batteries.

If Saturday's launch is scrubbed, there will be another attempt Sunday at 3 p.m.
