Are we being punished this winter season for the past few seasons when we had no major snowstorms and temperatures that were not too bad for a typical winter? I say yes.

After the major snowstorm we experienced last weekend, temperatures dropped to very uncomfortable levels for most of us. This cold snap certainly is a major topic among the residents of New York's Southern Tier and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are going to remain low throughout the weekend and into next week, along with those nasty wind gusts.

A cold weather advisory has been in effect through Sunday, February 1st, at 9 a.m. The NWS notes that wind chills could be as low as 15 to 25 degrees below zero and could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Also, prolonged cold could cause pipes to freeze or burst.

Hours may vary by location. If you plan on visiting one of the warming centers, it is best to contact the center to confirm its hours of operation before visiting.
