Vestal’s Fire Station #4 is closer to relocating to a less busy piece of road.

Residents have voted 377 to 88 to allow the Town to spend $612,500 to buy the former American Legion Post 89 on Jensen Road for a new fire station, replacing the current facility on the Vestal Parkway.

In addition to having crews negotiate heavy Parkway traffic when responding to calls, Town Supervisor John Schaffer says the current facility is outdated.

Once the move is made, the Town would be able to offer the site of the current fire station for new development.
