People fighting a proposed 161-unit housing project in Vestal have erected dozens of signs to show their opposition.

Landmark Properties of Georgia wants to build the development on a 43-acre site off Bunn Hill and Jensen roads, just south of the Binghamton University campus.

In March, the company presented plans for the Retreat at Bunn Hill project to the Vestal town planning board.

Victor Lamoureux, whose home is close to the site, says there have been no new public developments in recent weeks during the coronavirus pandemic shutdown.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Lamoureux said the project could still go forward despite the concerns about potential negative impacts expressed by the Broome County planning department.

A Landmark Properties representative did not respond to an email request seeking information on the status of the project.
