Relief is once again available for those who use a popular Broome County trail.

A restroom at the old Vestal Coal House at the Stage Road end of the town Rail Trail was closed for a time, creating a hardship for walkers, joggers and bicyclists.

Mark Mushalla, a partner in the company which is leasing the Coal House, says "a lot of complaints" were received when the restroom was no longer available.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Mushalla said following the calls about the facility, a locking timer was installed to allow the restroom to be accessible during the daytime.

Mushalla said the timer makes the facility available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day. He said the hours will be adjusted in the spring and summer so the restroom will be open later, probably until eight or nine o'clock.

Mushalla said the new system has been in operation for about two weeks.
