A former firehouse in the town of Vestal that's been idle for the last couple of years may get a new life now that the property has been sold.

Marchuska Development acquired the building on the Vestal Parkway earlier this month. The site is located a short distance west of the Binghamton University campus.

Justin Marchuska said a crew from his company started work inside the old Vestal Fire Department Station 4 this week.

Marchuska told WNBF News that he doesn't know what might eventually will be coming to the site. He said it's possible the existing building could be repurposed or someone may prefer to construct something new on the property.

According to a marketing brochure, the two-story building has 5,280 square feet of useable space. It's being offered for sale or for lease. The asking price for the property is $1.4 million.

The marketing material describes the site as a "perfect location" for a retail or healthcare office complex.

The Vestal Fire Department moved Company 4 to a new $7.5 million station off Jensen Road in November 2023.
