Vestal Police are asking anyone with information about a reported jumper from the Route 26 Bridge July 27 to contact them.

At around 5 p.m., police received a call of a man jumping from the bridge, launching a huge search effort including Vestal Police, New York State Police, Vestal Fire Department, boats, sonar, helicopters and divers as well as ground search teams.

Authorities say the person who may have jumped is described as white, possibly in his late teens to early 20s with longer brown hair.  He was said to be wearing a dark colored shirt, sneakers and shorts with a possible checkered pattern.

No one had been found in or around the river in that area over the weekend.

Vestal Police say anyone who may recognize the general description as someone they may know or have seen to contact them.

Any missing person or unusual circumstances should be reported to your local police and the Vestal Police Department at (607) 786-7600.
