Construction operations are moving forward on a $70 million student housing project just north of the Binghamton University campus in Vestal.

According to Aptitude Development of New Jersey, there will be nearly 200 units with a total of 516 beds in the five-story complex.

Watch the WNBF News video at the end of this story.

The project is being built on the Vestal Parkway at Bunn Hill Road. For years, the site was occupied by a Quality Inn hotel and Fuji San Japanese restaurant.

Aptitude Development paid $10 million to acquire the five-acre site from Gokulesh Hospitality last June.

Aptitude CEO Jared Hutter could not be reached for comment Friday for a detailed update on the status of the project, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2027.

Another massive student housing complex about two miles from the Aptitude project is preparing to open in a couple of months.

Retreat at Bunn Hill will be a 700-person student community south of the Binghamton University campus.

That project is being developed by Landmark Properties of Georgia on a 44-acre site off Bunn Hill Road. Students should be able to start moving into the cottage-style units in August.
